Skills overview

How GymTeamHub skill tracking works — the grid, the five statuses from Not Started to Mastered, modifiers, and coach notes.

For: Everyone

The Skills tab is the program's skill matrix — every athlete's progression on every skill, organized by apparatus, updated by the coaching staff as skills develop.

The skills grid — athletes down the side, skills across the top, a status in every cell

Reading the grid

Athletes run down the side, skills run across the top, and each cell holds that athlete's current status on that skill. Tabs switch between apparatus — each apparatus has its own set of skills. If the hub keeps more than one skill list (say, one per season or program), a switcher picks between them.

The five statuses

Every skill sits in exactly one status, and each status means one specific thing — the same definitions parents see in Progress Report legends:

Status What it means
Not Started Prerequisites not met or not training
Learning Meets prerequisites and has begun training
Achieved Can perform the skill independently
Mastered Performs flawlessly every time
Injured Cannot work on the skill due to injury

Modifiers — the in-between cases

Learning and Achieved can each carry one optional modifier — a qualifier for the cases a status alone can't capture: with a spot, into the pit, inconsistent, made it once, on competition equipment, and so on. Modifiers are descriptive only — the status still drives all metrics and readiness math — but they're visible to parents in Progress Reports, so the nuance travels home.

Coaches & staff

Tap any cell to set the status, and pick a modifier on the in-between statuses when it fits. Every gymnast also has a notes column per apparatus for free-form coach notes — and the eye icon hides all notes at once when the grid is up on a shared gym screen. See Managing skills for building the lists themselves.

Parents

You'll find your own gymnast's skills on their profile — see Skills for parents.
