The gymnast lifecycle — pause, retire, reactivate

Managing gymnast records over time in GymTeamHub — Active/Paused/Inactive states, why Retire beats Delete, and the Quick Checklist.

For: Owners & directors Coaches & staff

Gymnasts take breaks, move away, come back. The roster models that as a lifecycle so you never destroy history to tidy a list.

The three states

The Gymnasts role-tab has Active / Paused / Inactive sub-tabs. Each gymnast's row menu moves them through the lifecycle:

  • Pause — for a temporary break (injury recovery, a season off). The gymnast drops out of day-to-day surfaces but stays one click from active.
  • Retire — moves them to Inactive with all history preserved: scores, skills, attendance, reports all stay queryable.
  • Reactivate — brings a paused or retired gymnast back to Active.

About Delete

Delete permanently erases the gymnast's record — including score history. Retire instead in almost every case; the only good reason to delete is a record that should never have existed (a duplicate, a test entry).

Quick Checklist

The Roster's Quick Checklist tracks simple yes/no items per athlete — uniform received, forms signed, fees paid. Define the items once, then tick boxes down the roster instead of maintaining a spreadsheet on the side.
