What the numbers mean
How Gym TeamHub works out a routine's estimated start value — what's missing, how it adds up, DV and CV, restricted skills, and vault.
Every routine shows an estimated start value: what the routine starts at, worked out by the app from the values typed into it and the rules of its scoring template.
Note
It's an estimate. It's only as right as the letters, checkboxes and choices entered — judges set the official start value.
Where you see it
- On the Routines home, each event's chip shows the gymnast's competition routine.
- On a gymnast's list, beside every routine.
- On the routine itself, in large type: at the top of the page on a phone, and in the column beside the routine on a computer. What's missing is the first thing in the routine, and How it adds up is a fold near the end, above Delete routine.
While you edit, the number stays in view — in the side column on a computer, in the bar at the bottom on a phone. On a phone, tap it for What's missing and How it adds up.
A routine with no template shows the start value someone typed in. A dash means there's no number yet — no start value typed, or no vault values.
What's missing
The list of what's keeping the routine off its best start value, a line each, with what it costs where the template sets one:
- Value parts short, one line per letter — "2 more B skills".
- Special requirements not checked, by name, with what each costs or would earn.
- Composition credit below full — "Dismount: 0.10 short of full".
- Restricted skills to replace — "Replace the restricted skill".
When the list is empty, it says "Nothing missing for this template". Until a skill has a value letter, it waits for them rather than listing every part as missing. While you edit, the Skills card also sums up the value parts in one line: "Needs 1 more A · 2 more B", or "Value parts filled".
How it adds up
The working behind the number: the template's base value, what's taken off (missing value parts, missing requirements, restricted skills), what's added (requirements met, composition credit, bonus), and each cap where it applies, ending at the estimated start value.
On a skill row
| You see | What it means |
|---|---|
| A value letter (A, B, C…) | The skill's value, as picked. It fills value parts, and on a template with a bonus it can earn DV |
| DV +0.20 | The DV (difficulty value) the letter earns. "· not counted" means the skills above it already reached the DV cap |
| CV +0.10 | The CV (connection value) set on the link from the skill above. It counts only when both skills count |
| Restricted · −0.50 · not counted | The skill fills no value part, earns no bonus, and costs 0.50 — its letter is restricted on this template, or it's past a skill limit |
| Only 1 C (Acro) allowed | The skill limit that restricted this skill |
| C counts as B | The letter fills value parts as the lower one |
| Not in this template — or, on a routine you're reading, "E isn't in this template" | The template has no such letter, usually after a template change |
Skills count in routine order, so where a cap or a limit runs out, it's the later skills that miss out.
Vault
A vault routine lists each vault with the start value typed in for it. The highest one is the routine's start value.
The Scorecard bonus
The USAG Women's Level 10 templates for bars, beam and floor have a Scorecard bonus, with a checkbox on the routine for the part the app can't tell from the letters. Once earned, it shows beside the start value, as "+0.10", rather than inside it.
When a template changes
A routine is always worked out from its template's current rules. When a coach edits a template, or Gym TeamHub updates one of its own, every routine on it is worked out again. See Scoring templates.
