What's new: announcements that don't vanish, a phone that keeps up, and imports that stop making duplicates

Gym TeamHub 1.2.0 is our biggest update yet. Rather than a long list of every bug fix, here are the changes that will actually make your day easier in the gym.
Most of these came from watching how you use the app on the floor. A few came from you politely letting us know we'd broken something.
Missed an announcement? It's in your notifications
You tap the screen on reflex, and a meet reminder is gone. We got a lot of fair complaints about this one.
Announcements now live in your notifications — the bell on the web, or the notifications tab on your phone. Read, unread, or dismissed by accident, they're all there.
We also fixed something embarrassing: a long announcement pushed the Dismiss button off the bottom of the screen, so the messages that most needed dismissing were the ones you couldn't dismiss.
Messages you can actually control
Group chats are great until your phone won't stop buzzing during practice. Three changes:
- Mute one conversation. Quiet the busy parent group without missing direct messages from your coach.
- Leave a group chat. You're no longer in it forever.
- Mark a conversation unread. Read something at a red light? Put the badge back so you deal with it properly later.
Coaches also get channel sleep — retire a channel at the end of a season without deleting its history. When a group is put to sleep, its channel goes with it.
And tapping a notification now opens the thing it's about. It sounds obvious. It wasn't always true.
The phone caught up with the computer
For a while, coaches could see things on the phone that they could only change on a computer. That doesn't work when you're actively coaching on the floor.
Now, from your phone:
- Create, edit and delete events — including recurring ones, and including whether you're changing one occurrence or the whole series.
- Add, change and remove assignments.
Six other places where the phone quietly did less than the web are closed too.
And the keyboard no longer covers the Save button. On 22 screens, opening the keyboard on the last field hid the exact button you needed. If you've ever typed something into Gym TeamHub and then couldn't work out how to save it, that was this.
Meet season upgrades
Two changes, both from real gym situations:
- Parent notes. Parents can leave — and later edit — a note on a meet sign-up, like "waiting on my son's baseball schedule, so we may have to pull out of this one." The edit history is kept, so when plans firm up and the note changes, a coach can see what changed rather than wondering whether they misread it the first time.
- Single-meet level changes. Athletes get moved up for one competition, or compete down while coming back from injury. Staff can now set a level for that meet alone. Previously the only way was to change their level on the roster, which was wrong everywhere else.
Smarter roster imports
Importing a roll sheet twice shouldn't give you two rosters.
Imports are now matched against the athletes already on your roster before anything is written. You see exactly who's new, who's being updated and who's already there — then you approve it.
The same screen also offers to retire athletes the new sheet no longer lists, which turns the tedious part of the end of a season into one step instead of forty.
Two smaller ones: iClass imports failed on three of four print layouts and now handle all of them, and you can add an athlete without a birthdate — because sometimes you genuinely don't have it yet and shouldn't be blocked.
Export exactly what you need
You don't always need every column. The roster export now has a column picker. Apparel sizes for an order, contact lists for a meet, or the full set — pick your columns, download the file, done.
Better assignments
- Copy an assignment to another date. Practices repeat; assignments should too.
- Choose who to remove an assignment from, not just which date. Removing something from one athlete used to mean removing it from everyone.
- Gym Board — a full-screen display for a wall screen or tablet during practice, showing the day's work with check-off by group.
The Assignments tab was also doing far more work than it needed to, building the entire list at once, every time. On a busy day that was hundreds of cards. It now opens straight away.
Marketplace listings a buyer can actually answer
If your gym is linked to another one, your listings travel there — but the app has no way for someone at the other gym to message you. So a listing shared beyond your own gym now carries contact details. Previously those listings reached an audience that had no way to reply, which is the same as not listing at all.
Easier to read, easier to use
- A contrast pass across the whole app. Text that was genuinely hard to read is fixed in both light and dark mode — including several of the accent colours a gym can pick for itself.
- Keyboard navigation works through the sidebar, menus and dialogs.
- Errors surface instead of failing silently. Actions that fail now tell you they failed, rather than appearing to do nothing at all.
- Checkboxes and radio buttons use your gym's accent colour instead of browser default blue.
Privacy
Contact details are masked more carefully — one parent can no longer see another parent's email through the roster.
One last thing
We went through every piece of text in the app and stopped assuming athletes are girls.
Gym TeamHub serves men's and women's gymnastics, and every family with a son in the sport was reading copy that talked about their athlete as "she". A phrase like "how is she progressing?" is a small thing that quietly tells someone the product wasn't built for them. It's "your gymnast" or "they" now, everywhere.
Updating: if you have automatic updates on, you're already set. Otherwise open the App Store or Play Store and update Gym TeamHub. If you use it in a browser there's nothing to do — the web changes above are already live, and roster imports, the export column picker and Gym Board are web features to begin with.
Keep the feedback coming through the in-app form — it comes straight to us, and it's how a good number of the changes above happened.
